Dochul Choi is currently in charge of Samsung Electronics’ global business and technology strategy. He oversees the business opportunities and product development for main business segments such as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, cooking ranges and vacuum cleaners. He also leads various exploration activities to achieve quantum business growth through innovations and new technologies. Dr Choi also oversees all foreign government affairs, global standardszation and regulatory activities, as well as trade association activities for the business division. On top of being part of the management board at APPLiA, the European home appliance trade association, he is also vice president of the corresponding US association, AHAM.
David Hirschler works at ERI, the largest IT Asset Disposition service provider and recycler of e-waste in the United States. He is responsible for ERI’s internal and external sustainability and circularity initiatives as well as legislative responsibilities covering the gamut of producer responsibility regulations through data protection regulations. In addition, David serves as president of the board of FABSCRAP, a nonprofit organisation focused on the recycling and reuse of commercial textile waste. He has worked in the recycling field for more than 20 years and holds a master’s in urban and environmental policy and planning from Tufts University.
Rick Goss brings over 25 years’ experience in public policy, strategy and advocacy to help clients achieve their sustainability, energy and environmental priorities. Rick is a recognised policy and technical expert and a seasoned global negotiator who has successfully delivered results in Washington, Brussels, Beijing and at the United Nations. Rick’s experience includes testifying before the US Congress on conflict minerals policy, electronics recycling and green procurement, and representing the information and communications technology (ICT) sector before US federal agencies. He has advised the European Commission and the OECD on supply chain priorities and has represented the sector before global governments on sustainability topics related to manufacturing processes and ICT products. Rick recently stepped down as chair of the board of Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI)and is now serving as their senior advisor.

World Green Building Council (WorldGBC)
Carolina Montano Owen promotes strategies to accelerate the transition to a sustainable built environment, by leading initiatives such as the Circular Buildings Coalition and the WorldGBC global circularity accelerator programme. She has a background in civil engineering and a doctorate from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. Carolina has supported the development of the technical screening criteria for the EU’s green taxonomy as a member of the WorldGBC team for the EU Platform on sustainable finance, as well as decarbonisation road maps as part of the #BuildingLife project.
Martin leads Arup’s foresight, strategy and innovation team based in Germany. He specialises in transitioning the built environment for a sustainable and decarbonised future. He has worked for over 12 years in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector, with a focus on making cities more innovative and liveable by advocating for evidence-based strategies to achieve a circular economy. As part of these objectives, Martin has developed Arup’s Circular Buildings Toolkit and other circular tools, indicators and methodologies to support innovation in the AEC sector.
