Preventing food waste: cities leading the way forward
According to World Food Programme estimates, approximately one-third of global food production is lost or wasted annually, contributing to the climate crisis and resulting in economic losses of US$1 trillion. This session delves into how different cities reduce food waste through prevention strategies along the supply chain, highlighting initiatives from projects such as CHORIZO and CityLoops. Participants will gain insights into inspiring actions and policy strategies implemented by cities to prevent food waste, showcasing successful examples of urban food waste reduction and management.
